Diet
You can feed your dog kibble, alot of people do and have dogs that live long full lives. I had 1 amazing dog who couldn’t digest kibble which forced us down a long road of raw food. We’ve done it alot of ways. At times we saved money by getting stuff from farmers to include livers, hearts, kidnies and all that. That turned out to be gross for me and gross for the dogs. Yeah that’s what I said, dogs don’t like the way organs taste. I’ve checked with like 5 dogs and 5 out of 5 didn’t like the organs. they would eat it if i forced them by not feeding them, but they would pass if they weren’t starving. I then moved to premade raw grinds for a while and that was ok. But if you watch documentaries, you’ll notice that even the wolves eat berries and grass and non meat items from time to time, and we use fruit and veggies, and supplements in kibble already so we ended up looking for non-meat options to get the micro-nutrients. You can make your own and save money but i lack time, so I use dr. harvey’s. The instructions say to mix it with hot water, meat, oil and serve. But i find that if you i do that, then denali won’t eat it. so instead of hot water, i mix it with an egg, atleast for dinner when denali is eating. In the morning i just mix it with hot water and some meat for griz. She’ll eat anything.
Now the dogs also get tons of treats and depending on what i’m eating, i usually share. They usually get blueberries, carrots, yogurt, through out the week. Most of the time, griz gets the table scraps to beef up on calories; but if we have something super healthy like salmon and broccoli then both dogs will get some, and I’ll plan ahead and cut some of denali’s food aheat of time
